The McClymonts

The McClymonts were founded by Universal Records in 1997, where they were performing at the Gympie muster which saw the eldest sister Brooke McClymont get signed to the label.[1] Only when middle sister Samantha McClymont went solo, Universal decided to sign them as a trio in February 2006. The band went to record their first release The McClymonts in 2006 at the Rocking Horse Studios in Byron Bay with producer Steve James. It was released on 5 June 2006 and it peaked at number forty on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart in 2006.[2] The success of the EP lead to 'The Outback to the Beaches Tour', with fellow country singer Lee Kernaghan, and gave them a chance to show their new music to audiences nation wide.[3] On 16 August 2006 the girls performed at the ARIA Hall of Fame Night at The Regent in Melbourne performing the song "Delta Dawn" by ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Helen Reddy. "Something That My Heart Does" was the first track released from the EP and was a hit on Australia Country Music Radio Charts peaking at number three and nominated the girls at the 2007 Golden Guitar Awards for "Best New Talent" and "Best Duo/Group".[3] "Baby's Gone Home" was the second and last song released from the EP and became their first song to reach number-one on the music and radio country charts.[3] They also won the Jayco Country Music Award 2007 for Best New Talent. In February 2007 the girls went to America and Nashville to record and write their first studio album Chaos and Bright Lights. In Nashville they wrote and recorded with writers such as Monty Powell (Keith Urban), Eric Silver (Dixie Chicks), Trey Bruce (LeAnn Rimes), Nathan Chapman, Steve Diamond (Lonestar) and Frank Myers. In Australia they wrote with Rod McCormack and recording artist Shane Nicholson. The album was released on 12 November 2007 in Australia and peaked at number thirty-seven on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart.[4] In 2008, Chaos and Bright Lights was nominated for "Best Country Album" at the 21st ARIA Awards.[5] This award winning album is set to release in the USA Spring of 2010 on Executive Music Group. The McClymonts have also recorded their second album in Nashville. It is due for release in Australia, January 15, 2010.
